400 WoW gold per hour guide
Posted in News, Blizzard, WoW, Warcraft, Gear on May 29th, 2007I saw an ad for a WoW gold guide that claims you can make 400 gold per hour. Now, I bet some of the guys who practiced it finished with their accounts banned.
In order to make their mistake let me tell you what the guide is about teleporting to Dire Maul - East Wing. There are three thorium veins there that you can mine. You then go out, get re-invited, and teleport back in.
Obviously, the whole teleporting back and forth is going to get noticed. In addition, exploits like that get closed pretty quickly once Blizzard becomes aware of it. The fact that one guy made 400 gold in an hour then got banned is a poor excuse to shell $19.99 for getting this INSIDE information.
NPR pities Chinese gold farmers

Playing online games for 12 hours is a fulltime job for thousands of Chinese workers. They’re accumulating virtual money — or “gold” — which they can sell for real cash. But it’s a dull and labor-intensive job with limited payoffs.
According to the interview, there’s a gap between what you get paid if your farm gold in the US or in China. If you do it in China, you expect at most $4 for 12 hours of work. In the US, the same gold gets you $13. I’m not sure the economics work like that but that’s what they said.
So if you want to buy cheap WoW gold, go to Shanghai!

WoW Arena titles

There will be four rankings to be attained:
- 0.0% - 0.5%: Gladiator (and Armored Nether Drake sent in mail)
- 0.5% - 3%: Duelist
- 3% - 10%: Rival
- 10% - 35%: Challenger
The rankings are per Battlegroup.
11 million WoW gold disappear
Posted in News, Blizzard, WoW, Warcraft, Classes on May 11th, 2007I’ve probably seen hundreds of spam messages advertsing WoW gold as well as powerleveling services.
Blizzard has struck back recently - banning over 100,000 accounts and deleting 11 million gold (yes, that’s 11,000,000 of WoW gold). I imagine this means no more cheap wow gold for a month!
TechDirt are comparing this to the economy of Namibia:
There are also other problems with trying to count in-game economies — partly because they’re very much at the whim of the makers of various games. So, for example, when World of Warcraft makers Blizzard simply remove 11 million gold pieces from circulation, after shutting down accounts that made gold through fraud and cheats, how is that counted in the grand economic scheme?

Pandemic win 3:0

Team Pandemic won 3:0 against Fnatic. They went through 63 Chinese teams, 1 European team and 1 US team to claim the title WSVG World of Warcraft Champions.
Going back to their press release from a month ago, the team has progressed really well.
Mark Dolven, President of TeamPandemic LLC, had this to say: “I am very excited to see the Team Pandemic brand expanded in to the World of Warcraft universe. The group of guys that we have been able to recruit are the best in the business. We cannot wait to see what they accomplish for themselves as part of our teams. We will provide them with every tool they need to become the best World of Warcraft team in the world. The sky is the limit for these guys.”
Man, I hope he doesn’t mean they’ve been using Chinese farmers and bots to hone their skills!

WoW Credit

Look at this Visa - it has a WoW hunter on it’s cover!
The big deal about the card is that if you use it, you get an amazing 1% back as game credit - i.e. spend $1,500 and get 1 month free.
It looks stupid now but wait till they figure you can personalize with your hunter in full Tier 6 gear. Then it will be something I’d consider!
