Starcraft 2 release date update

For a long time, Blizzard have stated that the new version of Battle.net will premiere with Starcraft 2.

So when they say the new version will probably be ready by Christmas 2008, you’d think it might be Starcraft 2 release date too. At the same time, there have been definitive statements from Blizzard that Starcraft 2 will not come out in 2008.

So the consensus on forums is that Battle.net 2.0 will come out in December – together with a Starcraft 2 beta. As to the game release – that’ll probably happen in early 2009.

Update: A recent rumor (started by an anonymous Blizzard employee!) added oil to the fire by claiming that Diablo 3 release date has been moved before Starcraft 2. Now, that’s obviously bullshit as Starcraft is clearly the more “finished” game of two. Two races are already playable – and played at Blizzcon.

    I did a rain check on SC2 and i’m picking it up December 4th………… If you go to GameStop, you can reserve one, it’s not that difficult.

    Maybe on late December will release a beta StarCraft 2 and on 2/28/2009 maybe we will see a full game, I don’t know is it true It’s just my opinion. When I was reading the news about StarCraft 2 in a gamespot I saw a link to online shop that you can order StarCraft 2 for 60$ and there was written a release date 2/28/2009.

    While playing on B.Net, I heard a rumor that Blizz had pushed the release date agian. He said that now it would be released in late 2010 I think. So we got a long time to save up that $100.
