More Starcraft 2 news
I’ve gone through the FAQ at Starcraft2.com. I must say I like what I see! Here’s the facts:
When is Starcraft 2 being released?
As usual, Blizzard is not setting a deadline. I hope they manage to get a beta out by the end of 2007 but based on previous titles, I wouldn’t surprised if they delay it.
What are the new units and races?
No new races this time, they’re sticking to the Protoss, Terran, and Zerg. There will be plenty of new units though. For example, the Protoss have been beefed up with an Immortal, Stalker, a Phase Prism.
Is Starcraft 2 an RTS or an MMO?
Thank God, Starcraft 2 is an RTS.It’s a good think Blizzard don’t listen to Vivendi all the time, otherwise they’ll be doing one MMO after the other. In Starcraft 2, there will be a single player and a competitive multiplayer on Battle.net.
Will it run on my computer?
Blizzard is not posting specific specs but it says the game will run on Vista and Windows XP. So you probably don’t need to upgrade per se. Getting the most of the new 3D look though will require a good graphics card at least.
What’s different?
Not much. I can’t blame them, Starcraft is one of the best games of all time, no need to fix it, just expand it.There will be a new 3D engine, of course. There will be several new units for each race. Also, Battle.net will be upgraded with more multiplayer features.
All in all, I’m happy about what I’ve seen so far. Just let me see the Starcraft 2 trailer!

this is fucking stupid. they get everybody hyped about the fact that it’s the same shit, plus more. why the hell would they take away protoss carriers, yet leave the terran battlecruisers. carriers were such great all-around fighters, and now we have to build 3 different unit types to make up for their versatility. BAD MOVE.

The carrier is still in the game. Simply new name and design. I’ve seen vids on utube.

We’re not sure what units theyre taking out or adding in yet. So dont assume theyre taking out carriers. Just wait a little bit longer before we get more information.

–the carriers are still there.. nothing much has change on the physical aspects. but they have new moves. new offense moves. can’t wait to play it!! who0oo!!!!

I hope blizzard think of us poor folks who can’t upgrade their PC evertime a new game is programmed. I don’t have a dual core processer and the lastest and greatest video card. I thought I could play Supcom on an Atholon 64 FX 3800+. It played fine untill levels where lots of units were on the screen. the framerate dropped considerabily. Very dissapointed about that. I can’t afford to spend a grand or two to play it. Years ago when Total Anilation came out. It did the same thing it was a resource hog and became a burden on a low end machine. Then blizzard created Starcraft and I was in heaven. Not only did it play on my 486 DX but it played and looked great. I hope this new venture is the same thing. I had to ditch Supcom cause i can play with all that Frame loss.

The biggest thing that pisses me off is they tell us about starcraft 2 then its like they completely bag it, VERY few updates I mean zerg should have been up a long time ago, instead they throw us a bone with these gay fan site download. I want to play the game not visit fan sites of a game thats not released. I wish they would show some love to us starcraft players and put more then 2 programmers on it. Since its not a pay to play like WoW though there gonna drag there feet….

I gather you’re pretty new to the way Blizzard does things Grimer. They tend to be extremely slow with their releases, take WoW for example, they announced WoW maybe 5 years before they actually released it.
If I where you I’d be a little more patient, zerg updates might not be out for a while still. If it’s any consolation, the fact that they haven’t made any new updates to the webpage for about a week now MIGHT mean they’re working on a big update, and that just might be zerg info.

People are worrying about their systems too much, Blizzard games are known to be able to run on the worst systems to the best, it just depends the quality you want to play on, and if you plan on using a below average computer perhaps prepare for a little lag.

Still, though people want to make sure that the game there buying wont cause so much lag that its unplayable no one really reads the system requirements because they are too exited to care so they would like to know now.

Also, please note that games that are annouced were probably still being made (graphics,programms and such) before they were annouced such as sc2. Blizzard probably had this in the works after Wow BC came out last year and then they annouce it this year and then it comes out at the end of the year, maybe next year. If im wrong about the dates and other shit please correct me thnkx.

Hey guys ive got something to say to GRIMER and SPIDERMINE

of course blizzard thinks about you folks that cant upgrade so easily, BUT the largest portion of the gaming community would like to see the latest games with amazing graphics, if it bothers you so much maybe you should move to consoles, they dont really need to be upgraded at all until a new console comes out.
you really need to be dedicated if you want to keep up with computer gaming eh.
i got an ACER with 4 gig of ram, a NVIDIA 8800GT and a 2.4 ghz dual core processor for under 2 grand.

i doubt blizzard has “just bagged” one of their largest titles ever, you would be surprised at how many new things are happening to all the races.
just read around the blogs.
i doubt blizzard will have any financial problems with starcraft 2, for starters (not meaning to be racially insensitive) just about all of korea is going to buy a copy of starcraft 2 let alone the rest of the world.
i mean come on i preordered starcraft 2 about a year or so ago with gameplanet (i think) and im still waiting happily because i know that they are giving it 100 percent and its probably going to be one of blizzards, if not blizzards best game/s.
so what if they have only 2 programmers on it? if they had hundreds then nobody would be able to coordinate what is going on and it would just get messy.
please stop whining its not gunna help at all.

your old enought to buy these games and stuff….
i personaly am only 14 and really poor so i cant even buy the game…
but i had a tast of starcraft before and it’s awesome … =)
i gona have to wait like another year after starcraft 2 is out so i can buy the game for cheaper…..( if i can make the money that is )
