IGN: Starcraft 2 beta by year end
IGN reports that a Korean site has started a rumor that provides details on Starcraft 2 – a Starcraft 2 beta release by the end of 2007. Here’s more:
According to Fighter Forum, StarCraft 2 continues the story of the original and adds a new race based on Kerrigan, making a total of four races. While that wouldn’t be totally off the mark, we figured the new race would be more the super-race mix between Zerg and Protoss rather than Zerg and Terran or at least the mystically advanced Xel’Naga. The three older tribes will each be receiving around two additional units.
The report also claims that Blizzard plans to shut down its original StarCraft servers in order to ensure the success of the sequel.
I thought the guy who wrote in the Stacraft 2 wiki was crazy for coming up with a fouth race but it know seems more people have fallen victims to this madness!
I wonder what happens to Diablo 3 if Starcraft is to be released in 2008. Surely, it’s not Blizzard’s tradition to launch two games at once. I still hope for a beta in 2007 though.

i can’t believe they would shut down SC battle.net. yeah, it can suck at times, but seriously. your going to destroy a huge amount of your fanbase by taking out the online portion of the previous game.

No, dont worry, they would never take out the Starcraft 1 servers. The rumor was right about starcraft 2, but it was wrong about the 4th race. I’m sure its also wrong about shutting down the Starcraft 1 servers.

if you go to http://www.starcraft2.com and read the faq, you will clearly see that SC 1 will still be available on battle.net, and that Blizzard’s intent is to maintain the 3 races. They have not made any announcements, or even hinted at the addition of a 4th race.

Starcraft 2 doesnt need a fourth race, and there wont be one. Anyone got a release date for the proper game?

you are right we do not need a 4th race, but it would be kinda cool to see the zerg protoss hybrids or even the Xel’Naga. but then again i am happy with a new SC game with or with out a 4th race.

i wonder how the map editor gonna look like in SC2. i already got ideas about making a ums (Use Map Setting). i really cant wait.

yea but whats cool is that Warcraft: Frozen throne hinted the new looks for the units… for example the zergling. The zergling is in the W:FT in the exact same look as SC:II… pretty interesting!

yeah no forth race is needed, i also think its cool that the protoss got the mother ship (makes up for the terran’s nuke) i wonder wut the zerg will have O_o (imagines giant ultralisk/mutalisk hybrid thingy) And no the zerglings do not like the same as they do on warcraft 3 captian blitz…THEY GONNA LOOK MUCH BETTER LOL

there is going to be a fourth race u just wont be able to play it. it may not even be in the game only in the expansion or a secret level just like in the brood war which is how we found out about the hybrid which duran made. he said that he worked for a higher power and its probobly the xel’naga

this is great and the greater thing is they maybe a new line games.i mean only diablo ,warcraft, starcraft…i want some new…i don’t want diablo 34536436, starcraft one milion, and warcraft 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000.it just wil suck!

i think that there wil be an another race.blizard maybe are gana do it like with the pandas in warcraft, bonus misions.or without playing it.like the burning legion.and we hame time to the end of the year to play other cool games.

having a new race is not so bad at all… well, it didn’t mention yet about the new race but it didn’t mention also there would be no additional race, right?
am getting excited on this new game release.

There’s a mission in warcraft iii where you get to play the naga (underwater sea creatures) race, you can do everything, build units, buildings, upgrades etc… Since there’s only terran, protoss, zerg in multiplayer, maybe they’ll do a similar thing in starcraft 2 and let you play the Xel’Naga in one of the single player missions.

even starcraft 2 doesn’t have a demo for the whooolllle entire world but it came out ONCE a lifetime it already came out on may twenty something so all of us poor basterds did not get to play the game!!!

In high school, I used to play a lot of Starcraft, which is why I’m fairly excited for the upcoming Starcraft 2 game.

making a fourth race would make it feel too much like warcraft i reckon, a fourth race would be lame, with all the new tools for mapeditor on sc2 id say the community will end up making a new race or something any way.
