I just found out that the Diablo 2 patch 1.11 introduced a “world” event as Blizzard calls it. In order to participate in this Pandemonium Event you need to be one of the realms (no single player). It’s only also available in Hell difficulty. Here’s a short description:
To trigger the event, you must collect items called keys. There are three types. The Countess drops the Key of Terror, the false Summoner drops the Key of Hate, and Nihlathak drops the Key of Destruction.
When you have collected three keys, go anywhere in the town of Harrogath in Act 5 and transmute these three keys together in the Horadric Cube. One of three portals will open, to the Furnace of Pain, the Matron’s Den, or the Forgotten Sands, in which you will fight Über-Izual, an Andariel-like creature called Lilith and Über Duriel respectively.
Each of these bosses drops one of the Prime Evil’s relics, Lilith drops “Diablo’s Horn”, Über Duriel drops Baal’s Eye, and Über Izual drops Mephisto’s Brain.
When you have collected all three relics (a.k.a. body parts) you must go back to Harrogath, and transmute the three relics. This will open a portal to Über Tristram, where you will fight improved versions of the Prime Evils all at once – the Übers. Prepare for the hardest fight of your D2 career.
The last of the Prime Evils you kill will drop a large charm called the Hellfire Torch. It gives 3+ to the skill levels of a random character class, 10-20 to all resistances and attributes, a chance to cast Diablo’s Firestorm on striking, 8+ to light radius and Hydra charges. This is your reward for all the trouble of collecting keys, relics, and killing the Übers. (posted at this Diablo 2 site)
My point is that if Blizzard are doing this kind of event for Diablo 2, maybe they are testing the waters for Diablo 3 events. I mean they’re trying to get the best of both worlds: the storyline of Diablo with the events from World of Warcraft.
OK, maybe Diablo 3 won’t be a MMO but could have some of the community features of WoW: like instances, special events, etc. All in all, I can’t wait to fight the three prime Evils with my ice sorceress!
i dont see what the big deal is. if blizzard doesnt make a diablo 3 then who cares but this event does sound good.

Well I am sick, after losing all my characters from open ages ago (Work and an accident kept me from PC), I decided I would only play single player. (Due to work environment and its nature getting on regularly is hard and I got sick of losing characters.
That this doesnt work in single player or on open battlenet just makes me want to spew.

ok if u can explain this to me please do so… cause i believe there are 2 world events from what i have expirenced… i know of the collecting all the keys and put them in cube at rogue camp and u get to fight meph diablo and baal….. but…… i have also expirenced something else…. i killed all the bosses in hell mode… then it started saying stone of jordens were being sold… after waiting in the game for about and hour or so after killing all the bosses… the screen started to shake and it said diablo walks the earth….i had to find him but once i did and cleared the area he was at… i could not kill him myself so i got some people that could but i was unable to stay alive to see what he dropped… but anyways if you can explain this to me please do so..
That my friend would be uber Diablo and he drops the annhilus charm when you kill him…
i think the 3 keys work in multiplayer, i just picked up the key of terror.
i wish i was strong enough to do that bout im way to weak and my acc keeps getting hacked into and i tired of it im mainly a necro type of guy=D

i got the key from summoner. and that triggered me to search the net for the KEY OF HATE…i play single player…i didn’t see a key being dropped by countess, just a few runes and magical items..i am in act 4 now..how can i get annihilus charm?
I only play single player (no net) was shocked when Blood Countess dropped a key in Hell mode. Still waiting for someone else to drop a key…playing lvl 85 Trap-sassin. Trying to find out if single player can trigger the Pandemonium event – but havent made it to Act 5 yet, stuck in Act 4 (Diablo is a bitch!).
You get the annihilus charm by beating Diablo clone or Uber Diablo which happens by selling a specific number of stone of jordans to the merchant in town, then Uber Diablo can be found in any location on any act. When you come close to him, the screen will shake and the screen will say: “Diablo Walks The Earth” Then you must defeat Uber Diablo to get the charm.

trust me, in single player, they DO drop keys, BUT, once you have all 3, you CANNOT! open the portal to get the Organs, TRUST ME, i have tried, and failed, and tried again
and failed again
so if your on single player, i would highly advise to NOT waste your time trying to find all of the keys, then try to make the portal,
