Well, to be totally honest with you - it was confirmed and then the confirmation was removed from the site. So where does that leave us? I guess it’s the usual secrecy surrounding any Blizz project.
Here’s the LONG story:
The guys from Legendary Pictures (yep, the guys behind 300) have posted on their site that a Diablo movie is in the making. Diablo was listed in the “In Development” section.
Once the news about the movie leaked to fan sites, Diablo was promptly removed. My guess is it was a phone call from Blizzard that got them going.
Besides these facts, we have the following:
- Legendary Pictures are already working on a WoW-based movie, so they look like an obvious choice for a Blizzard project.
- Vin Diesel’s movie - A Man Apart - was originally named El Diablo which resulted in a lawsuit from Blizzard “claiming they trademarked Diablo and intended to make a movie based on their game”
I’m hoping and praying a Diablo movie is in the making. I loved the Diablo 2 cinematics and making the next logical step - the big screen - will be an amazing experience.
Update: Ha! Look at this. I just checked who the owner of this domain is!

the movie is sure confirmed after all that controverse, our chances to see diablo related things at blizzcon is getting higher and higher, wouldnt it be cool to have diablo 3 accompagned with a movie? maybe its a movie which gonna tell the end of diablo serie? who knows…

i always thought that the story for the diablo series was great, but if the movie gives an ending for the entire series before the 3rd diablo game comes out it would be pretty lame. but i am still really excited for the movie and i just hope it doesnt follow the video game movie curse, but Legendary pictures made some good films so i have high hopes. not to excited for the WoW movie though…

I seriously think that there is goin to be NO DIABLO MOVIE .I saw some info in a website saying that steven spielberg is planning to make a wrcraft movie.But i will be thrilled and suprised if they really make a diablo movie.

I love and still play diablo2 LOD and i really hope that they make diablo3….. I am not that interested in the movie but it wouldn’t be nice if that historic serie ends now….
id rather have the game come out first than the movie, reason being is, the movie is gonna leave alot of “easter eggs” meaning its gonna give u info for the next game. why would u want that? u see were already excite about d2 fromt ehir cinematics, lets be more exicted after we see d3 cinematics. i seen a trailer it looks 3d, like WoW kind of style, but idk if it was a hoax or not.
look blizzard wants money if they want more rather than d3 movie they can have us pay to play d3 which i would be incredibly pissed at, seeing as how d1,and d2 are F2P. but they really might not wanna make a movie yet. yea im a bliz fan but i must say, theyre greedy sons of bitches LOL. they will make i d3 movie im sure. just give them time, theyll want more money coming soon. but damn they do make some good ass games.

i was just thinking… they can make a movie… but what about?you see diablo came out and it was a hit on pc and playstation… and then diablo 2 came out and the ending is well…. kind of the cut off… you kill all three evils and then happy ever after… they cant make a movie about something thats already happened… take final fanasy VII theres 3 parts to it now… the first game… then theres the movie and now theres the game ‘ serge of ceverious’… but the end never ended with the firest game… that gave em a good shot for a movie or better yet … a second game… now i’m not saying its hopless for a movie for the game… but think… its kinda risky…. what will they do it on? the lesser evils reviving the primes to do terror again? they cant exactly do it on d2 cause its would be worthless… they would lose more money than earn
P.S i am a big fan of diablo 2 and i still play it but i dont think it went as well as warcraft… like theres how many now? but yes… i do hope they come out with a movie… and another game!

Well Gothic prince,i feel that the fact that ALL of the PRIME evils were killed will be a problem for the DIABLO movie.Eventhough the PRIME evils were killed,i am sure that they can create many other evils and story lines!I mean this is BLIZZARD man!!These guys definitely have many ideas to continue the DIABLO series
Chances are HIGH that if there is a movie ,there will definitely be a game.
