Bill Roper, the producer behind Diablo and Diablo II, has been working hard on a game called Hellgate: London. Obviously, the game has some relation to Diablo. There have been rumors that the team left when the management at Blizzard felt that their version of Diablo 3 is not “fun”.
Since the team has left, Blizzard have been recruiting new people to join “the team behind Diablo I and Diablo II” for “an unannounced PC project.” There were positions posted in February for an art director and a team of designers.
Hellgate: London has been in development for some time as well and this is probably putting some pressure on Blizzard to hurry up with their Diablo 3. Otherwise Bill Roper will get it all.

Bill Roper’s tenure at Blizzard can hardly be underestimated. In 8 years, he contributed not only to Diablo but also to Starcraft and Warcraft. In his interviews when he left he cited problems with Vivendi as the main reason for leaving. So much for corporate non-interfearance.
When key developers leave the company it means alot.
I bet Hellgate will be much better than Diablo3 but
D3 will sell at higher volume due to marketing big guys can afford
First, I would proboly buy the Hellgate ver before Blizz’s ver. due to Blizard has way to many problems anymore but none the less I will buy both.
second is there places I can get more info about both including aspects of the storyline or anything of knowlege?
Blizz did many mistakes last 2-3 years really and it is sadening me since I like that company and most titles it has produced in the past.
I hope if Diablo 3 is going to come out the publisher won’t be Blizz otherwise we won’t get a game that is created by the Diablo’s father but rather strangers.
I wouldn’t have too much of a problem if Richard Knaak worked in the story though, I love him and his books.
I believe Hellgate is a trial game before Diablo 3. Almost like to see how people react to 3-D 3rd person view and all. Because Diablo really is a game that is played Isometric.
well.. hmm Hellgate is going to be online and it will cost to play..monthly figures.. and it doesnt really look any much better than d2 except for graphics.. and its most likely only going to run on Windows Vista.. since that is the only OS that supports direct x 10.. seeing as all they were mentioning about the graphics for hellgate is direct x 10..
oh and about blizzard “playing catch up” it just means that blizzard is going to secure that D3 is going to blow fans away..
JayMz i dont think hellgate will be an direct x 10 game. Why? well there are just uneconomic aslo the graphic might be like oblivion in terms of graphic card but as we all know elder scrolls 4: oblivion is an game who use direct x 9. And if they made it 10 i dont think so many would buy the game. I cant see myself buy Vista at this time Vista sucks
just Microsoft why of making ppl NEED Windows so not os like linux can play direct games by using wine for example.
Will the Hellgate game be free as the Diablo games? but if it is, With the new Diablo game be good graphics? Because some game players just play games just for the graphics and other factors. Me on the other hand I will play Diablo 3 when or if its come out because I played and got attached to Diablo when Diablo one came out.
OKay here’s the low down on D3 my bud that works for Blizzard north has sent me a demo copy of the game. You have 12 char classes and the skill of revive as long as your the cleric class. a.k.a. pally. He also told me that D3 may be released by summer or late 07 or by early or summer of 08. I’ll keep yall posted on offical date.
Oh yes and one more thing for you Diablo lovers. Diablo 3 is no longer a Free Battle.net you have to pay 17$ a month on Diablo 3 Battle.net how ever it does still have the single player servers that Diablo 2 and LoD have and also the IP Address Connect. The graphics are much better then HellGate. And with your new class and skills it will be a much better game then WoW it pains me to say that but yes it will be better then WoW. Just be sure to keep your D2 LoD Accounts and you’ll be able to use your chars from that account on D3 over the battle.net servers same with your single player chars. As before I’ll keep yall posted for more updates on the game.

But, why would lod chars be played with in d3? seems too bs. that means there isnt any additional skills, etc. and how would u know it is 17 a month. they wouldnt even have that released yet, or know what they are going to charge. well when i see some real proof ill believe like anyone else here
i have played diablo since the day i have bought it working on improving my characters playing endless hours of online game play. but when i beat diablo two i have been hungry fir more diablo. i have heard rumors about diablo 3 please let them be true please.

i played the hellgate demo, the verdict? im very unimpressed and disappointed. The graphics are average, the gameplay is shit, story is shit, but, in my loyalty to diablo, ill play on
btw it runs perfect on my pc, quad core Q6800 with dual 7900GTX’s in SLI overclocked and running phase change cooling, 22 inch spinning rims and a bad ass body kit! so ye, it will run on any PC.
