According an ex-Blizzard employee (they are leaving in throves lately), Diablo 3 will have two factions - similar to World of Warcraft. Here’s the scoop:
Diablo 3 takes place in heaven. Hell is trying to take it over and it is AWESOME looking … Imagine the brightness of heaven being taken over by the darkness of hell … Imagine WoW but in a Diablo world in amount of size and playability … Also, guild housing is available in this game for those of you who know about it. They should have a gameplay demo to show at BlizzCon.
Every bit sounds great and convincing BUT the last one. Blizzcon? They had one last year. No Blizzcon has been announced (AFAIK).
I hope that Diablo doesn’t conform to the dirty form of WoW. I love my diablo the way it is; shitty graphics and all!
I dunno, I mean I loved the Original Diablos to bits. But with today’s modern technology don’t you think they would make the graphics better? I mean it would improve the feel of the game and the look of it. A lot of people determine how good a game is through it’s grahpics. Which yes, I know is lame but it is true. I mean look at the Fallout series. the first 2 have got pretty much the same graphics as D1 and D2 and Fallout 3 is going to be extremely different in the graphics department.

If it\’s a MMO, I\’m sure Blizzard will require a fee - same as World of Warcraft. I THINK that what Paul Sams is saying is that Blizzard will not confine themselves to MMOs only. So I think there\’s a chance that Diablo 3 will be similar to Diablo 2, i.e. FREE online play.
If Everyone In The World Agreed to Not Pay For a Game Monthly, That they HAVE ALREADY PAID FOR… Then Companies Would Be Unable To RAPE there Consumers The way they do…. Do You think That the Average Joe Who Plays WOW makes a great deal of money???? Chances are. he is working at a Plant. He is Threading Nylon or Pumping Gas or What have you…. There is no need to Charge a monthly fee to use a piece of Software…. Does Microsoft Charge you 15 dollars a month to use there Operating System???? Does Corel Charge You Every time you Print a Document on your Printer in Word Perfect??? It is Absolutely INSANE!!
I’m sorry for going on a rant.. I just need to say one last thing… I think that what Blizzard is doing with WOW.. (I mean Charging There Customers a Monthly Fee) Is Criminal… The ammount of Money That They make in Sales is MORE Than Efficiant to Cover Any Costs that may incurr in Serving there Game… If Not… Then they are doing something terribly wrong… I have been playing Multiplayer Games Since Jesus was a Cowboy…. Battlefield 1942… Age of Empires (Entire Series).. Outlaws… DIABLO (1 and 2) …. The List could go on and on… No one has ever been asked to pay a fee…. If Diablo 3 Costs me anything other than what I pay for it at the counter when I Buy It, I Will Not Only NEVER Play or Verbally Endorse There Products…. I Will Definetely Do Everything in my Power To Discourage My Fellow Man To Do The Same.

Well if they make the interface like wow then I will be fine. Chances are its no longer 2d. It might become a never winter nights or dungeon siege type UI. The thing i keep going back to diablo 2 and diablo for is the great story and the gameplay. As long as those are the same then I will be fine.
I hope it goes to mmo. I believe ghost should have gone to shooter, Warcraft would be rts and diablo would have kept its rpg heritage. Monthly fees arent bad as long as it is reasonable. 15 dollars is outrages but 5-10 isnt that bad. Same with every other mmo besides guild wars. Lets see that would be 60-120 dollars a year.
I REALLY wish they would make it isometric, i’m so tired of playing 3d games and some genres would do well to stay away from 3d. I just feel like you lose a LOT of control in a hack/slash type game by using 3d when some improved Isometric graphics and more randomized stuff including totally random areas all throughout each game to make them differ from each other is all the true Diablo fan wants anyways. Please Blizzard don’t ruin the last remaining and most played game i still go back to. Cookie Cutter games Suck and that’s generally what I consider Blizzard to be against. Scuse my rant but I felt I had to get that off my chest.
If D3 turns out being 3d first-person, then I’ll burn the game. If it still has the familiar isometric feel to it, then I’ll be satisfied. But I think the layout of the game is what makes Diablo! You can’t mess with that.

ok here is wat i think, THEY ARE GOING to make the graphics better to get montly payment just like WoW. Since the old warcrafts are non-montly payment and the graphics suck, thats why they changed the graphics and more enteraining just to get money.
If I guess correctly they WILL make it a montly payment with GODLY GRAHPICS which will make wow’s rating go down and maybe the end of wow. So start saving your money if your wanting to play diablo 3 when it comes out because i bet there will be a montly fee.
WoW will never die! But eventually another game will be the biggest online game. Maybe it\’s Diablo3 or anew version of Duke Nukem!!
iv been a long time fan of blizzard but recently its been pissing me off!!!! im a big fan of the classics (starcraft,D1 and 2,warcraft 3) but it just seems to me that blizzard never fins wat it starts starcraft ghost for 1 they half made it TWICE then at the last minute for no reason they decide to cut it, WoW burning crucade took longer than expected so wat the hell do they do all day and wat are the chances of D3 coming out on time ( or at all!!!!!) and if SC ghost does not come out one day im going to burn down blizzard!!!!.
I totally think they should keep to 2D isometric, or at lease a 2D isometric fell with the look. one thing i like about 2D is It’s alot eazier on the system requirments. Also think 2D isometric looks more professional and i like that you can see all around your guy, because we all know that it’s important in diablo ;). don’t believe me cover half your screen, then we’ll see how long you live. You would think that they could come up with some super high quality worlds with 2D ismetric, and i hope they keep similar lighting effects to diablo 2 because i think the lighting effects in D2 are pretty good. Also think they should add like a bazillion new types of wepons and armors.
I agree blizzard does take a long time to come out with games, and have no idea what they do all day. There a game making company and have professional game making teams to make professional games you would think they could come out with games a lil faster with the right push, witch i know a lot of people are.
I really love D2 but me and my friend have done everything there is to do in that game basically.
I think it’s time for D3 to come out.

D3’s better with the great ol’ 2D isometric graphics. 2D has a greater detail texture than 3D has (uhm, okay, 3D could do it too–if you can afford a >$1000 PC :P) which is absolutely required to make D3 alive. Diablo is not a kiddies-RPG, it’s full of gore and i dont think the D3 is way better with 3D-texture bloods.. so please Blizzard, dont make D3 look like kid’s game..

Only thing im worried about is the graphics and if its monthly pay. I dont want it to be WoW graphics. and if its monthly pay… well lets just say that will be a dissapointment. The Heaven and Hell thing tho. Sounds fricken awesome. hopefully they will have it done and released by 2007. The whole MMORPG thing kinda has me worried cuz the old diablos werent like that. Oh well i trust Blizzard and there decisions and if they want to make it that way, fine with me.

D3 will not come out in 2007 if you ask me. Blizzard works long on games and I don’t think they are busy creating it. I think it will be for 2009-2010 or maybe later, but certainly not sooner.
Hope it will be isometric and NOT lik WoW. Look at titan quest, isometric graphics can be beautiful! and I hate to pay every month for a game…
Blizzard says it wants to release 1 expansion for WoW every year. And since they only create one game at a time…
I agree with all of you who have said that a D3 should keep to its isometric roots but this is not likely.
After so many years the graphics will most definitely be improved so no surprises there.
I think a small online fee (very small - like 1/10 of the WoW fee) is justified to maintain top notch servers and prevent hacks from being used in the game. The game should also be playable offline unlike some.
As for storyline (you didnt hear it from me OK but I will tell you guys anyhow), they will be looking at a corrupted Tyreal who wants to take over heaven/hell and earth and both forces of good & evil have to unite to stop him. So for all you who wondered what it would be like to play as an Venom Lord or Oblivion Knight..you will soon get your chance!
For all the true diablo fans out there who hate the ‘care bear’ feel of WoW, you should check out Hellgate London by Flagship Studios. Hellgate London is the true successor to the Diablo series and incase you don’t know…many of the team who gave you D2 in the first place are working on it. Wirt the peg leg dude makes a cameo appearance as well!
By Diablo3 i think Diablo3 should be a very nice game…coz i ply diablo 1 and 2 it was very nice too….by the way when diablo3 came out should be dam very exp….but i still will buy…coz im diablo fans!!! I played WoW and loved it for abit. But like you all have wrote, its to carebearish. Then again, bliz aimed for an older crowd with WoW. So gore and cool graphics i think where not in the major priorities. Its more based around playability and community. Where as D1 and D2 are just pure fun. I want them to bring out Diablo 3 and i wouldnt mind a MMO style of play. As long as they keep it more badass and its not so.. /hug /hug then im down with whatever they decide. The heaven and hell idea is sick, but if they where to make it like a MMO, i doubt we will see it anytime soon. MMO’s take time, and just recently blizzard had posted a job for an openning working with the team who developed D1 and D2. So, if thats the case and there just starting on D3 then it might show a teaser at the next blizcon.. but i highly doubt it. Id recommend buying hellgate in the meantime
I hope they will continue to have free online play in Diablo 3, thats why WoW is shity. Like cameron says, keep it the same. why go and change something everybody already loves?
Honestly, I’d prefer 3D.
If it’s to be released around three or four years from now, it would be wise to take advantage of the hardware that’s available today, not what’s available at time of release.
It pisses me off that some developers would release a game using an engine that requires new hardware that will be released at about the same time as their game. Sure, some rich kid would dump their one month old graphics card ang get the latest one in the market, but not everybody has that luxury. And four years from now, current technology would be bought at bargain price.
As for the issue of paying a monthly fee for it, that’s all fine with me. Regularly adding content to the game, lawyers, hardware maintenance, developer fees, employees, all-in-all keeping the game interesting and constantly evolving will require a lot of money. Sure, selling ten million copies around the world on release may sound a lot of money going to Blizzard. But once the money stops coming in, sooner or later, their cash will run dry thanks to all the expenses they’d have to pay to give you and me our beloved game and to keep it running for years to come. And in the long run, they can’t just develop their next game and tell developers and employees that they’ll get paid once the game sells. What if it doesn’t? Not that Blizzard makes crappy games, but the possibilty is there. Especially when you’ve spent a lot of years developing and hyping a game and just bombing in the end…Daikatana, anyone?
making an MMORPG out of Diablo would be fun.
I have this crazy concept for Diablo wherein the whole game would be based on modern, real world locations. Players would be going through the different continents that remain in conflict, The Americas, Asia, Europe, and Africa (I envisioned a charred Australian continent , an eerie Bonewaste like Antartica, and the very border between Heaven and Hell being PVP zones). I’d really like to see famous landmarks given a hellish touch like the Eiffel Tower made up of human remains instead of steel or screaming faces in the Northern Lights, or even the Roman Coliseum being turned into a house of pain as inhabitants are constantly slaughtering each other, yet all are cursed not to die to feel the pain for all eternity.

If Diablo 3 looks like WoW in terms of graphics I’m going to smash my face in, with a barbed sledgehammer. The more it looks like WO:AR (Warhammer ONline: Age of Reckoning) the better!

-Free Multiplayer
-Must contain Diablo
-Must continue from what happened to the Worldstone
-More classes

-New Acts and new quests for them
-More Cinematics (oh boy)
-Remove the Fetishes from Act 3 >=(
If D3 comes out and it’s free and it’s better than wow then I shall be happy because I can save $15 a month

ok i love diablo but damn i hope blizzard doesnt turn it into world of diablo because that would suck, there is already so many things that they took from wow which is extremely disappointing. I mean blizzard is so damn rich now cus of wow and they still are willing to use wow sounds in diablo (not that much of a big deal). Wow is fun becasue its a new type of way to game and an intuitive way to get in there and take names.
lol all that u mentioned looks like your talking about wow, wow was great when it first came out. Then it got patched too much and ruined the fun part of the game to turn it into a no life playing competition. Wow is not fun, people say its fun because thers always shit to do but the stuff u have to do isnt actually fun when u think about it. Its like going to work, no one wants to farm gold and shit like that its the most boring thing ever.
Pve pvp, i rly dont want them to call it that because wen they do d3 becomes WOD. Dont get me wrong the demo looked sick with big bosses but once i saw the inventory and how everything turned into little squares instead of having weapon sizes i was disappointed. The character view in the inventory is almost an exact replica of wow.
I know blizz listens to ther players but they listen to much and dont listen well. Thats why after a patch thers always something messed up and everyone complains, they shouldnt have to change classes in every patch.
Wow has improved slightly though, a year back it used to be the worst thing ever. They started to realize that and made things more accessible and less “your life is wow, play 24/7 to get gear and gimme 20 bucks a month.” Its still bit like that but i mean, WoW was rly at its peak a few months after its release. It was the best to play right before the honor system came out. Im sure alot of you can agree on that,
