Diablo 3 vs Pandemonium Event

I’ve been thinking lately about the new content that Blizzard added to Diablo 2 with the Pandemonium Event (i.e. the Diablo 2 Ubers).

I’ve heard many arguments that it’s not REALLY new content as Blizzard have just taken a few bosses and made their uber versions. For example, they’ve used Andariel’s model to create Lilith who shares very similar spells and effects.

Uber DiabloDiablo has become uber Diablo, gaining a a few extra hitpoints. Same goes for the other bosses (Mephisto and Baal) as well as the lieutenants (Duriel and Izual).

That is one way to look at it. However, lets turn to the year(s) preceding World of Warcraft’s launch. Blizzard created a special “custom” campaign (The Founding of Durotar) for Warcraft III that used the game engine BUT simulated WoW in terms of gameplay. The quest structure, the items (epic, legendary, etc), even the levelling.

Come to think of it, I might have enjoyed the campaign MORE than I have enjoyed WoW. You could control three heroes plus summoned creatures and henchmen, the quests made sense (i.e. not repetitive), and the items were pretty powerful.

That’s not my point though. My point is that what Blizzard has done with patch 1.11 is test the realms for the style of gameplay that their next-gen MMO (lets call it Diablo III: Heaven and Hell) will feature.

This looks a long shot now but come back in a year and we’ll see. I definitely think Blizzard’s next-gen MMO should feature top SOLO content in addition to raid content.

I do expect to kill Diablo even as a casual SOLO player. Surviving the fight might be a 10% chance and loot might be just a few greens but I’d like to see Diablo go down. Amen.

I hope that you can solo diablo in d3 as well. But i think that it should be an instance, like WoW but he should increase in difficulty depending on how many players are in the game.

i think the difficulty should be dependant on the number of people in the party

i expect there to be better stuff than this in the future. or your funding will be cut off. If it wasnt for my father this little game wouldnt be out so i expect news or you’ll expect to be closed.

There would be no need of guilds if you can solo the strongest boss.
The idea of having guilds to work your way up to soloing Diablo would be dumb also.

Something that could work in this aspect is having Diablo very hard to solo, but easier, although stronger, to kill in a group.
It would take an awesome character, with countless hours of gameplay, to be able to solo him. I wouldn’t like the idea of giving better item drops to this player, since he has the good stuff already, but something nice to let people know “I solo’ed Diablo”.

    you are all pathetic

  8. 8 phillip sosa Jul 13th, 2007 at 10:25 am

your whole lifes are around this game. i think starcraft 2 will beat the shit outa d3

  9. 9 phillip sosa sucks my cock Jul 16th, 2007 at 5:45 pm

Sosa… Shut the #**# up. Calling others pathetic for their main hobby interest and stating their lives revolve around D2… Seems your life revolves around being an arse to those who support and enjoy “your fathers greatest achievement in life, Diablo 2″

On another note. I’d pay for D3 if it was an MMO and I think Diablo should be like Nagafen in EQ2. Level 100 and unbeatable at launch, but maybe someday with patches, expansions and level raises he can be taken down. Only difference… He drops so uber friggin gear for the level He is. And takes a whole raid force, is not instanced and still with a full raid would be meaner then any other MMO monster ever. He’s friggin Satan!

    End.

i don’t Starcraft 2 will beat D3 , like you said i think you will have to prove it on how many are they in the market as well as the gamers that are also waiting for this game to be release and another thing don’t be so an asshole calling others pathetic cu’z you don’t know what might come to you as you do to others like that…

    i agree with Neblou completely

that was a great opinion, and i enjoyed reading it. all though i agree with some of the opinions here, i don’t like the idea of D3 being an MMO.

to Philip sosa: it seems to me that your interest (hobby) is to flame others for their opinions and calling them pathetic. well guess what, you’re the most pathetic here for living just to flame others. not only does it show you how pathetic you are, but the statement “If it wasn’t for my father this little game wouldn’t be out so i expect news or you’ll expect to be closed.” shows that you are unintelligent. do you really expect us to believe that? anyone can say they work for Blizzard, but it’s just an immature way of getting attention. you could have written “hey, look at me, give me some attention here.” and it would serve the same as what you said. if i said “hi guys, I’m a Blizzard employee.” would you believe me? mo! exactly. so before going on a flaming spree and calling people pathetic, i think you should sit down, calm down and think carefully about what you write. who knows, maybe someone will take you seriously then.

  13. 13 VoE-Norwegian_Viking Aug 6th, 2007 at 10:33 am

i noticed a spelling mistake here. “mo!exactly.” was supposed to be “no! exactly.”

just don’t want to give phillip sosa any reason to flame me more than what he will for making that reply.

    and sorry for double posting

  15. 15 Windflex Oct 9th, 2007 at 10:34 pm

i admit that starcraft is amazing good all around but for us d2 players we stick to what we got and that is why we like d3 better the games are extrememly even depending on what you play
