According to IGN, Blizzard is contemplating a Starcraft sequal for real.
…another little nugget of gold dropped alongside it with the public admission that Itzik Ben Bassat, Vice President Business Development and International for Blizzard Entertainment, would be keen to see a new StarCraft before too long.
On stage in London for the game launch, Bassat stated, “I’m a StarCraft player myself and I hope it’s not a decade, and we launched StarCraft in 1998, before I’m standing here again, celebrating the next game in the series.”
During another previous interview, Paul Sams (Blizzard’s COO) said that in 2007 they’ll have 3 (three) product announcements. If we consider that the Burning Crusade has been one, we’re left with two.
Could it be that our wildest dreams will become true? Both Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 will be announced soon?
Update: IGN has a rumor that a Starcraft 2 beta will be out by the year end.

Diablo 3 … I wasn’t that into StarCraft and, though it’s been around 9 years since the original release of SC, I don’t think it had quite the crown and glory that D2 (or even the first one) had and still holds. Between the two, I think they had more potential with D2 and should run with it…I’ve been waiting for the release announcement for about 2 years or so.
Starcraft was out way before D2, and since it also became a huge hit, it deserves a sequel. Blizzard should concentrate on making each of their franchise be focused on specific genres.
Starcraft for the RTS gamers. It keeps Koreans busy.
Diablo for single player gamers who can’t afford to play online and would rather go through the same thing a few thousand times until they all collectively beg for a sequel.
Warcraft for mmo gamers to keep the basement occupied and uber-nerdo-guilds go into the “first to kill (insert boss name) in the world” racing frenzy.

Well I think sc2 would come first, as far as I know sc is the favorite out of all the games and has been around longer then diablo 2.

blizzard will consider the hard ware requirement they will keep low requirement for future games . then only they will achieve in market other wise big FLOP like VISTA ( because of hard ware requirement)

Starcraft has been around longer and not yet had a sequel so starcraft should TECHNICALLY get it. But I’d much prefer a diablo 3. There have been a lot more rumours about diablo 3 being set in heaven with hell attacking, people from blizz saying the gfx look excellent etc. but either way they said 2 releases other than TBC so we might get both. You never know they might even get of their asses to complete Starcraft: Ghost.

First of all Starcraft was released 2 or 3 years before Diablo and second- it has always been a bigger game than Diablo so I guess it will be sc2
But there is still hope, nothing is officially announced yet. 
diablo 3 will come out because they are gathering there powers to create the penultimate (or maybe just ultimate) game. they have a writer for the diablo franchise writing new books, and they have job openings that look suspiciously like a job used for diablo, sooooo. i am fairly sure (fairly.) that diablo 3 will be out within a couple of years (1 at the least). if they have these openings then obviously they are still looking for people to do the job. if they do make it then from what i have read and heard and seen it will be the best of the best. (bigger than oblivion, better graphics than real life, and less hardware requirements than running the clock.

I can’t stand WoW…It takes too long to do anything and it is full of petty side games. Diablo has it right with the mass destruction, descently fast leveling and an END to the game. Mass equipment selection is awesome too but WoW does have that.

Look I play both franchises and I am looking forward too both but the thing is that i am looking forward to Starcraft 2 more so why the fuck do u keeping bashing and Im not just talking about Diablo fans just stop bashing everyone has there own personal taste and everyone should respect that so if there are any bashers here fuck off. Starcraft is the bigger franchise but that doesn’t mean that Diablo is shit. RTS’ like Starcraft are played less in western countries and RPG’s are played more so I believe Starcraft is bigger in places like Korea. SC is STILL played everyday by hundreds of thousands of people. Diablo is a single player no brainer that only some very sick individuals still play. Cmon blizzard release SC2 already, i dont give a fuck whatever happens with diablo as long as SC2 isnt a second priority.
