Now, if you’ve been reading blogs in the last couple of days, you might have gone desperate. It started from those buttheads at Joystiq and then spread out.
So during a conference with investors “Activision COO Thomas Tippl said that if we don’t see any games from Blizzard this year, the publisher expects to see them next year”. Activision is desperate to cut costs. It just slashed Guitar Hero and basically are left only with Call of Duty. Blizzard is the only money maker in this family. So why is Thomas talking big IFs to investors? Because that’s his job.
Our job is to track the people who really matter, like Rob Pardo. When asked whether we’ll see Diablo 3 released in 2011, he said yesterday:
“We really, really hope so. That’s our goal,” Pardo said. “Our goal is to get there. But you know, at the end of the day, we are going to get it right. That’s more important. We’re going to promise, we’re going to get it out there when it’s awesome. And, we’re crossing our fingers, maybe it will be this year.”
Of course, Blizzard never make promises but you can decide WHO you’re going to believe: Activision’s COO talking to investors, or Rob Pardo talking to Kotaku. I go with Rob on this one.

Hard to believe its going to be released this year after reading that quote.
Crossing our fingers it will be this year.
Maybe it will be this year.
But..
“Crossing our fingers, maybe it will be this year” in the one line??
You are more optimistic than me.
Maybe I’m just reading into it too much
I need a new online game and this will be it im sure but I’m not getting any younger and other games are coming to market before D3
@disappointed It matters little if it’s Christmas 2011 or February 2012. My concern is for big delays in the range of year(s).
I was at gamestop today and saw a binder with all the upcoming games that can be preordered. Diablo 3 was in there with a release date of November 21, 2011. My friend who worked there said he has no idea if it is correct, but it was given to them by corporate.
Would’t it be funny if they finally brought out “Diablow 3″ and everybody just didn’t care anymore!
Let’s just say, I’m tired of video game retreads and sequels. Over last year I’ve only bought two new games(and the first I was sick of after two hours). There’s nothing original in game developement anymore. And we’re the idiots pandering to them…
Press closed beta has already started and they are going thru bugs like np. I don’t see why it wouldn’t be released in a matter of months.
