Diablo 3 release – 2011?

My worst fears are being confirmedDiablo 3 is again on the backburner when it comes to its release.

Blizzard have stated that TWO titles will be released in 2010. One of course, is Starcraft 2. Fair enough, it was announced a long time ago.

The other title due in 2010 is WoW Cataclysm. Blizzard needs to keep the money machine printing. I did freeze my account months ago and I suspect I’m not the only one.

Here’s the confirmation from Shacknews: “Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime has confirmed that just-revealed World of Warcraft expansion Cataclysm and StarCraft II are the two titles the company expects to hit in 2010″.

What a joke. A 3 year wait for a game from a powerhouse like Blizzard??
World is going to blow up in 2012.

Dudes, I don’t know why you are so surprised :)
After all you’ve seen so far how could you asume that the game will be released in 2010? You’ve seen some demos/presentations. The game is very far from finished. You’ve only seen maybe 20% so far.

    What you haven’t seen yet:
    - the rest of the skills (you’ve only seen 5 for each class)
    - the 5th class
    - the changes that EACH RUNE will affect EACH SKILL on EACH CLASS (this could be a 1 year work, dude). This can be done only after all the skills are perfect (this is also going to take a lot of time and a lot of testing)
    - the terrain, the items, the monsters, the bosses, music, sound effects, cinematics, game balance, etc etc etc etc etc.

Common, 2011 is good, but I fear worse. Diablo 2 was delayed 2 years AFTER THE RELEASE DATE. For now, you don’t even have a release date, so I would say not to expect so much to buy D3 in 2011.

im holding whit Andrei. if you lokk how many monsters they have made i could like only see 20 or something like that… try make a game out of the :D

this is bad as wish….. Do you guys what is the worst? The problem by delaying the game is to make more people addict to it. They spend more time to talk about it. They use the “blizzcon” and more to make people say wow and make people to search for diablo 3 on google for 2.5 millions research every months and for 70 000 research every month for Diablo 3 release date. This is annyoing to death. They are just crazy, greedy and they only want to make more money out of us, but something I think they havent understood yet is that they will make a lot more money releasing more game. Yo, they haven’t made money with diablo since what? 2005 they better wake up it will be 2010 and no release.

  5. 5 Clownius Sep 10th, 2009 at 9:16 pm

I’m sure there a lot more people like me who don’t play WoW and don’t want Starcraft.
As if they are not making enough money now. Put the expansion on hold and put all resources into D3. I bet a lot of people will ditch WoW and move to Diablo anyway so why expand it?
I waited for EQ2 for 12-18 months and that was bad enough. Now we have to wait 36+ months for this.
This isn’t the only MMO coming to market.

    And what Marshall said,
What’s the point of getting someone addicted to the game if it’s not generating money for them in the long term. I won’t be suprised if we do have to subscribe

    @clownius – Lmfao!
Yeah dude it’s messed up, man! I mean if blizzard ever does decide to release the f#@kin game – that being 2011, it’ll only leave us with year to play it before the world ends. And that would just be a waste of money. Damn mofo’s! Hehe.

  7. 7 Worda.Murda Sep 15th, 2009 at 10:57 am

Another thing! I’ve written myself off with this game… Honestly.

BORDERLANDS is going to be the sh!t people!!!

And once it’s been released the blizzard can go shove this game up their arses. No offence, but this just how I feel.

I see Andrei is the only clever guy here.

For the goddess’s sake D3 is NOT even in ALPHA, it is not being postponed for any marketing issues. It is not being postponed for hype, it is not being postponed due to WoW.

Blizzard has more-or-less 5 teams (MMO, RTS, RPG, B.net, Vintage) It is not like working on a title takes resources from another, nor are they interchangeable, each developer is an expert in his field but to put them in different stuff would just be a waste.

Also, the fact that they do not get money for D2 since 2005 (which in not accurate anyway since people still buy the game) and they still work on patches for it should just show you how Blizz caters to their gamers.

They would make more money releasing more games per year and releasing them sooner… but then they would be EA. Nope I think I’ll stay with Blizz, even if it gives me a (wrong) reputation of a fanboy.

ps: Things still missing in D3:
    - female Monk is still in concept (which means not all effort is in the 5th class)
    - 5th class is also in concept (skills, models, animations, effects, etc)
    - itemization (all models, all inv icons, all +attributes, all affixes, etc)
    - Talisman system (info n/a)
    - Skill Runes (on hold until all Skill Trees are finished, all different effects for all and each of every active skill of every class)
    - Acts 2, 3 and 4 are probably not finished with the 4th maybe even not started
    - Act separating Cinematics (HUGE amount of time needed)

And this is just what we know about and I can remember. 2011 is really as soon as they can have it ready. If it comes out in 2011 I will be happy with Blizzard even if I, as everyone else, wanted to play it now.

I’d rather have a well finished game with an ending worth playing for. I don’t want the game to be a dissapointment or not worth playing through a 2nd (or 50th time like previous) times through.
I hope they take as long as is needed. Hell, I’ll wait til a day before the world ends…. I know what I’ll be doing when it ends.

Don’t rush the game!! Release when ready!!

  10. 10 Hasse Sep 25th, 2009 at 12:35 pm

Its sad that Diablo III first i released in 2011… But perfection games like Diablo III takes atleast 5 years to make. so what could you expect.
Many fans of the story like my self, need to see and play the best of the best when it come to Diablo III. not some unfinished crap game. Let Blizzard take there times to craft the best game ever seen…
then its even more worth waiting for. =)

  11. 11 Tom Oct 4th, 2009 at 7:30 am

OMG whining impatient kids! If you had any idéa about the complexity of making such games…

And if they did release a half-finished game early, you would whine about how crappy it is instead.

Wouldn’t you rather have a game that’s doesn’t crash, and with an awesome gameplay, than one that would only be playable after a year of patching?

Too many game producers release unfinished games that don’t work, just to have you download huge patches to fix them afterwards.

There are other games out there in the meanwhile. Now go play them instead… or have a try at reality;-)

Folks, don’t freak out about this. Yes it sucks cause we have been waiting ages for Diablo 3. But lets remember this is Blizzard. And Blizzard has a mantra that they follow which is, “never rush a game”. So I say let them take the extra time. If they take another year, then they can make the game look completely awesome and gritty like a Diablo game should look. Then we will all worship at the feet of the Blizzard gods when it does come out and feel like we are playing a quality game.

And frankly, WOW should come first. It is a completely awesome MMO that has set a standard in gaming that nobody has yet rivaled. So deal with it.

Hi what do you think the last class will be i have heard that it should be a plaldin/warrior but i am not sure????

  14. 14 Therecarnation Oct 18th, 2009 at 11:53 pm

Well of course the date will be put forward more and more because they don’t going to get as much money as they get for WOW and then we have starcraft that have been on hold for a long time now if I don’t remember right it they was working on it at the same time as WOW so I won’t be surprised if it wont be released at 2013 or something like that but any way i looking forward for it even if it takes 10 more years! Diablo will always be a games close to my heart =)

    Man too many impatient people..
Can you wieners please just stfu?
Let them take their time with this, I and I’m pretty shore any true Diablo fan wants to see the true gritty grotesque gruesome sickness in this game when it finally comes out. Right?
Cause if you don’t wana wait for it you can then have them bring D3 out looking like WoW on crack cocain with rainbows an butterfly’s…
Please just shut it and wait.

Exactly how did you freeze your WoW account?

Do you mean you canceled it?

  17. 17 Diablo Oct 30th, 2009 at 6:46 am

Yes, I meant I canceled it and now the status is FROZEN :)
