I will agree with the opinions made that World of Warcraft and Diablo are very different games altogether. I've played Diablo 1, 2, and Lod for years now and will continue playing them. As well I have played WoW before and I found it to be a great game with, well designed, great focus on cooperative game play (ie quests and pvp arenas), and fantastically versatile also up to date environments and game play for those who are serious gamers. However, I find it rather taxing and annoying to require a monthly payment to play a game that you've already spent an initial sixty dollars to play. So tack on that 12-15 dollar monthly fee as soon as your purchase has been made and now come to a total of about 75 dollars just to take it home and start playing. But wait there's more! Now that you've paid 75 dollars (roughly) for the game you can look forward to another 12-15 dollars for next months play time. Now I am your typical college kid who loves a good video game every now and then; you know the rather poor kind. I still have money for recreation of course and make decent money at my current place of employment, but I find it absurd to keep paying for something you already have purchased at your local game retailer. I have a copy of World of Warcraft and the first expansion sitting on my shelf because I quit a while ago, yet I still don't feel like I own those games at all. Think about it, I can't just pick those games up re-install them on my comp and play away. No I have to go back create or reactivate my account and pay in order to play it. In my opinion that is not how gaming should be and nor is it the course I want future gaming to turn to. I have no qualms with the game play or the story of WoW, but simply the fact that paying monthly is supporting the ideal of games (mainly online rpgs) to achieve an MMO status as a major money maker. Not to say that game developers and all other associates shouldn't make money, I mean it is a capitalist society, but that milking it from those who love gaming is just mind boggling. It's like the government instating a tax on playing games.
I'm a very avid fan of the Diablo series and would love nothing more than to be able to play and enjoy all the new and improved aspects that blizzard is working on currently to accomplish in the gaming world with a brand new addition to the Diablo series. However I would hate to have to pass it up due to Blizzard bringing Diablo 3 to the pay to play world. I know you are probably thinking, "well then just suck it up and pay the monthly fee!" I feel with all the hype that has gone on in the past 10-15 years for companies to reinforce and secure their products with cd keys and replication blocking programs for games has helped to defeat the majority of people from stealing their products. And with a game release such as this (with all this hype!) in the works they are more than likely to have the upfront shelf sales out the roof. Think of 30 to 40 million copies of this game sold at 60 dollars a piece. That should be more than enough reward for all their hard labor. And that's not to reject or disregard possibilities of expansions.

Please make Diablo a MMO!..the content, diversity and everchanging nature of WoW..mixed with the concept of Diablo..with random dungeons and drops..glossed over with the latest graphics..sounds like a gamers wet dream.
Would definatly consider paying subscription for that..but wouldn't pay for game that never changed and could be done solo.
Take your time..get it right =D

Sounds great, seems Blizz keep getting it right. Nice to be able to play a game i can press "esc' to and go let the dog out/make dinner/shag the lady. WOW is just to focused. Can't walk out on a 25man BT raid to lead a normal life.

Cheers for the effort Bizz, hope the pay-cheque reflects the effort.

i think that making D3 an MMO would be somewhat a dumb idea. I think if they want to make money they will make it liek the original 2. People will leave WoW for it yes, but people who played the first two may not want an MMO and therefore not buy it. If they all wanted an MMO they would be playing WoW, and really they aren't that dumb. So i think it will not be an MMO if they want to keep a lot of their customers who love D1, and D2
