Update: Diablo 3 release date has been tentatively set to follow the launch of Starcraft 2 and Battle.net 2.0 some time in early 2009.
Thanks to Meza’s comment, we now have our hands on an interview with Paul Sams, Blizzard COO. There’s a host of interesting info about World of Warcraft’s expansion - the Burning Crusade. More importantly though, there’s something about upcoming games from Blizzard in 2007!
StarCraft is my absolutely favorite game of all time. As you probably already know, there is no doubt that we will continue the StarCraft and Diablo franchise, and trust me, I will be the happiest person in the world when we announce StarCraft 2.
According to IGN, while Sams wasn’t ready to spill the beans just yet, he did say Blizzard “will have a major product announcement in 2007,” and that Blizzard was currently working on at least three other unannounced titles at the moment.
That’s three titles in production. There’s NO WAY that they gonna miss on Diablo. If the other one is Starcraft 2, I wonder what the third title could be.
My bet is Diablo 3 will come out in 2007. Blizzard’s last game before WoW was Warcraft 3 which is still (IMHO) the be-all, end-all of good RTS, so there’s little point to rush Starcraft 2. All we have to do is wait for Diablo to steal E3 next year.

1st, D3 will flop just like the D2 1.11 patch did. I think that since all the makers of Diablo have left, it wouldn’t be a good game if they made Diablo 3. Also, Starcraft > Warcraft III, hands down. I don’t want them to make a Starcraft 2 mainly because they will just screw it up. I have lost all faith in Blizzard after they failed to make The Frozen Throne everything they hyped it up to be. I say, lets all look towards Hellgate: London’s beta this year, since it’s made by the same people that made Diablo.

the D2 patch 1.11 was not a total flop, the rune words may not have been that great but they got rid of some hacks and bugs and brought in keys and such.
A couple of the rune words wern’t bad you just have to use them right.
I also hope you can hold more items in the new diablo.

Diablo 3 hmm, lets see now where should we begin with this. Ok how about this, No HACKS at all. Thats where Diablo 3 needs to be its strongest. Install some sort of super punk buster in it where you can’t use ANY 3rd party program at all, if you get caught your character gets deleted and your account plus your cd key gets banned. Graphics and system requirements time, wow where to begin? Computers have made such a jump from 2 years ago. I myself am thinking on getting a new dual core machine with a DX10 graphic card. The cost for a machine like this would be around $2000 and up. I am still holding off on this purchase because I’m still rockin a single core 3.6GHz with 2Gigs of RAM with a upgraded 7950GT 512M video card. Everything seems to run fluid for me I play BF2 and BF2142 with np at all. Titan Quest runs beautiful on it too. So what would be the system requirments for Diablo 3? We all know Blizzards motto, when its done its done.. they didnt even annouce the game as of yet!?!? I fully understand that Blizzard wants alot of people to enjoy Diablo 3 is that good? Is that bad? Well in a graphics point of view it could be bad. Remember they didn’t even announce the dam game as of yet. I do hope it will be a higher res than 800×600. Tyrael, in my personal opinion, should fall from grace. He did pretty much ride the line of interfering directly with mortals. It would be an interesting twist to see him not earn his domain in heaven, but be the one to take it.
As for hacks, I think that hackers should run off and play Battlefield 2142. There they could snipe off all the newbs and not even have to blink. I never saw the point in hacks and never will.
I may not play D2 religiously for years but I am a fan of that line. I’m actually reading Sin Wars right now. I think the game should go smoothly with the history, the books and tomes, and all that jazz. Also, learn from EA. Support the games you make and don’t be a cheap bastard.
While the idea of Diablo 3 being an online multiplayer mega game sounds fun, I’m not sure about that. It’d be cool, but the only problem I see is the insane amount of dedication required to get anywhere. WoW doesn’t require all too much, but for Endgames and stuff where you need 40 men pulling 200% of their weight, that seems a bit overboard. I think it should follow traditional Diablo game styles.
Diablo =/ Final Fantasy. Adding guns is like adding carebears and fluffy bunnies to greet your every violent action. Don’t do it. It’ll turn off a lot of players.

Diablo the movie… I don’t know. Honestly, I say we band together and off Uwe if he thinks about it. Diablo is a wonderful series with a lush storyline that squshing it into a two hour film might be a little bah. Possibly if it were to be a trilogy and did its best to follow the guidelines of the games and lore. Don’t turn it into DOOM, where the story got fubarred.

If you want to play D3 I would point you toward Titan Quest. For now it’s D3 untill Blizzard gets the real D3 out and that could be a very long time. If you go to Titianquestgame.com you can download a free demo. Later on I would say in a month or 2 they might sell the add on for it.

Really? The graphics alone are better. The skill tree rocks and you can redo skills you put points into. Hmm… How do you feel about this 300-movie.com does that movie not look too good for you too? No doubt it’s not ” Diablo ” but with the new hardware thats out now I feel it would be good for Blizzard to get robbed of the Diablo title. I hope these other companies make more great Diablo clones. And to be honest I have played many Diablo wannabees and so far Titan Quest comes the closest to Diablo. The best part is that Iron Lore still SUPPORTS the game and is making a expansion for it. I would love to hear about more Diablo clones comming out for 2007 or 2008. So far not a peep from Blizzard, just all hear say, nothing concrete.
I’m really looking foward to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. got my preorder in. 2007 is going to have some really great games! HellGateLondon if they ever get it together, these 2 games seem to be a FPS type of Diablo, where you find stuff and can trade and what not. Well we shall see and only hope that Blizzard will announce something.

Hi Butterz, I went to the Sony website and looked around real good and could not find any info on Diablo 3 on a PS3. I then decided to go to Blizzards site and they had nothing. Could you please post a link on D3 for the PS3. I would like to read about it as I’m sure many of the other people would too. Also I might have to look into trading in or selling my XBox360 for a PS3. Or I’ll just donate it to my dad and take the loss. Unless D3 will be on XBox360 too?

Some of these posts are hillarious as in lame. Basically all the ones with advice to go do something with ur mothers. And of course, the one who made the game.
ON the topic of Diablo clones, if you haven’t already played it - try getting ahold of a game called “Arcanum: Steamworks & Magic Obscura” or simply “Arcanum”. Same game but works like calling Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction vs. simply Diablo 2.
In it, you create a charactor and either choose a magic path or a technology path or both. Although one usually tends to negate the other so dual classing it doesn’t work so well. Plus your alignment is based off of your actions throughout the game. You can kill shop owners and take all the stuff they are selling. It is impossible to do every quest as some quests botch others. Seriously the campaign is different based on how you role play your charactor. Give it a try for a different flavor.
As for Diablo 3, I am so wanting this game to come out. I still play 2 from time to time. Hardcore all the way. Doesn’t it suck when your level 40 Hardcore charactor dies because of something stupid you did? LOL. Happened too many times to me.
I would like for this time around to not be locked into the overhead view so much personally and have a little more customizable creations be made. But I also agree hacks should be a main priority. As xsevnom said best:

I think that line alone is what ticked LURBASERBELONG2US off. He is probably a hacker and thinks himself a uber cool guy.
I would love if Diablo 3 followed the NWN style of gameplay but with either more customizable gear options, or some really awesome looking gear. It would also be nice if you didn’t have to always re-explore the map if you start a campaign with some friends. I remember a friend and I used to log into b.net and want to play a game and we were both anal about having to explore the map and it was that way everytime. PLus, we used to get alot of messages from people wanting to rush us through the game. This should be toned down somehow. I don’t see the point in rushing through it. Once I am 99 then what? I rush through again? Why am I playing then? I would like the game to stay pretty decently paced and alot of the exploits really focused on.
As for Tyrial, I would like to see him stay on the side of Heaven but have Heaven become more active. Introduce some new Heaven charactors into the story. Also, some new charactor classes are always welcome as well as offering a male/female option for each. That way if you wanted a male sorcerer you could, or a male assassin, or female barbarian, etc. Anyways, I can’t wait until some official news is released in regards to the next title in the series.
I just hope I don’t have to wait until I am in my 30s or 40s to see it. (I am in my mid-20s right now) Good luck to us all.

Yo dudes, xsvenom was mentioning about forking out 2k for a pc if they make requirements higher for D3 - I really don’t hope they make it to high, because here in South Africa 2k for you guys is like 8k for me, and as far as release dates are concerned, I will wait 30 to 60 days longer before it will be available in South Africa.
But yes it’s about time for d3 - I have finished all quests with all charachters and currently doing item runs with my barb.
Diablo really is one of the best games ever made in my opinion and I will keep on playing while they release new titles, and as soon as my daughter is old enough to start playing, she will too.

, ye i love diablo aswell , diablo was fun in 1.08 1.09 and a bit in 1.10 in 1.10 i started to feel that it lost its magic touch , so making diablo 3 is that bad of a idea , + i dont want it to be like expansion like so you can transfer ya stuff from dia 2 to dia 3 hell no brand new game deserves a brand new start , + maybe 3 new char selections ? and making the item finding bit more hard and intresting or something crazy , i dont really know now , but ok , diablo 3 where waiting , i already know sacred 2 is coming 2008 somewhere in march april ..

Where to start? Well, currently we are working on many great titles. Diablo 3 is going to be coming out early 2008. This game will stay true to the main “Hack & Slash” style of Diablo 2 but will also include guns. The game is also slated to be a true MMORPG, with a monthly fee of about 20$.
We are currently working on some great things, but wanted to get input from some of the fan base, YOU! How would you guys feel about a Psionicist class? Able to use his mind to bend the powers of heaven or hell. They would also be able to inflict massive mental damage, cause insanity and other mental ailments. In PVP they would be strong as they could project hallucinations into the mind of adversaries, causing them to attack “Shadow” copies instead of the actual Psionicist. This copies could also be controlled by the Psionicist.
We are also thinking about adding mounts to the game. This will allow characters to travel at 200% normal walk/run speed. The mounts currently in the planning phase are a giant ethereal maggot. This maggot will have the ability to burrow beneath the hell soil when not being ridden. It can then be given a command to erupt from the crust behind an enemy and cause massive acid damage to their armor.
Another mount would be a gargoyle horse. Made of stone, and capable of leaping great distances.
Well guys, I’m sorry we left you in the dark for so long, but we are very busy here at Blizzard. Working on Diablo 3: Incinerati, Starcraft 2, and the newest expansion for World of Warcraft: Northrend, Assault of the Lich King.

there cant be mounts or guns . the psionicist MIGHT be cool but the guns and mounts is starting to bring it into modern WoW which is stupid. Diablo is its own genre. if they do truly make those changes to the next Diablo i’ll just stick to D2 LoD.
What I really would like to know…is how did anyone find out there was going to be a Diablo 3? Did you guess? There has been no advertisement, no previews, nothing…and everyone above is going crazy about Diablo 3? This was just like the ‘remake’ of Final Fantasy VII, and that never happened…so I want to know who was the first one to say there was going to be a Diablo 3, because unless it was leaked by someone who is making the game I really don’t feel like getting my hopes up.

There is currently no information about Diablo 3 coming out any time soon. Blizzard has never leeked any information about this game to any site or individual person and there has been absolutely no information no the subject on any blizzard site-link. As far as right now Diablo 3 is a long way off so just stick to Diablo 2 LOD for now because you are wasting your time if you are waiting for a Diablo 3 announcement.

ive been playing diablo since i was six, and am compleatley glued to the awsome gameplay and story. though its pretty boring now. the only thing thats fun his god duels. diablo 3 is a great idea. ive heard from some ppl that its something about heaven vs hell. it might be an mmorpg.

There is no doubt that Diablo 3 is gonna be a kickass game. Freaking scarey to make you piss your pants and awesome combat with tons of foes waiting to die the most bloodest way by your hand. But hey, dont let Diablo 3 come out in 2007, take your time. Make it a good game, dont rush and make mistakes, if you do it wont be as good. Please just take you time, impress all of us. It is Apr 5th akmost 6 of 2008 and it is like nothing is happening yet for D3 yet, and yet i know that i can have it put together with in an year so what is the hold up we cant wait for it to come out yet. Now if i got a job there i could be helping out alot for blizzard on making D3 wich i would make the game world of diablo. So are you going to make the game?
Just in case Blizzard haven’t started working on D3. Here are a couple of ideas that might help:
Time setting: Era of the horadrim (just over 200 years before the destruction of the worldstone)
New Characters: Horadric Mage (sorceress), Horadric Knight (Paladin), Horadric Ancient (necromancer), Summoner (druid - only instead of having shapeshifting skills, the are capable of summoning Mythical creatures), Barbarian, Hybrid (Hybrids are nephelim possising great strength, fast regenerative powers and can transform into Cerubs).
Game Heros:
Milabrega, Hwanin, Hsarius, Sigon, Barbarian King (Immortal King), Tal Rasha, Horazon. and much more… (Just look at the set items in D2).
Evil Characters:
Izual (Converted from good): once Tyrael’s best Liutenant has been seduced by Evil, tortured and twisted into one of the Fallen.
Azmodan Lord of Sin: Although one of the Lesser evils still extremely poweful, After the 3 Prime evils were cast from Hell, thier power passed onto Azmodan and Belail incresing their strength tenfold and cing before power was distributed amongst three and afterwards two, Azmodan and his partner became iven more powerful then their previous masters. Azmodan’s personality is one dominated by passion and Lust and follows more often then not his instinct. With the head of a lion and 2 horns coming out of his right shoulder, he is a terrifing creature.
Belail Lord of Lies: Belail is a facinating creature, he is capable of lying constantly yet people still keep following his advise (if you don’t believe this is possible watch the tele series LOST and examine Ben’s character).
Diablo Lord of Terror: trapping Diablo inside the soulstone is the ultimate challenge in the history of RPG.
