Now, Diablo is officially an RPG, so some degree of character personalization is expected. Not so, if you ask Bashiok, your (not so) favorite Blizzard community manager:
Official Blizzard Quote:
We’re focusing on customization through items as they can be seen better from how far away the camera is from the character.
OK, so no character customization except for items. I guess I can live with that, just promise me this will speed up development, so you’re ready for 2011 release!

I think gender selection is a good start to talk about some character customization. I’m sure they’ll add more customization options, they just don’t know it yet
I don’t expect my witch doctor to have any propensity for unpredictability or be unreasonable when talking to NPCs. While that would be cool, it won’t be the Diablo that I know.
diablo has ALWAYS BEEN an RPG…. this vex’s me..
appariantly they added armour colour customization too from a gamescom video i was watching on jay he said you will now be able to dye ur armor a certain colour of your choice sounds pretty neat to me lets just hope system reqs will be reasonable enough for my laptop because i cannot wait for D3!! xD

Looks like they copied the same idea from the Diablo 2 Mod: Median XL, Median 2008, Median 2 … etc. and all of that which came from the mod creator Brother Laz, who was previously interviewed by Blizzard because of his awesome mod, where you could actually collect hundreds of skills from items and recipes (yet hundreds of his skills were kept secret by Laz, but, that what makes the mod even great). Not only that it has Off-realm(comletely offline) Uberquest, it also have customizable character through Items.
This is great news I think because it’s not that important that you can personalize your characters appearance, I would say having unique item models and colors is a better way just like Bashiok says!
Mmm @ infamousD,
That is nothing new in a RPG, many of them have it even as old as Sacre and Divinity. So I don’t expect the system requirement to be high because of this.
But what disturbed me iz the hint that there won’t be customisation through individual stats? As in it will all be autoleveled and we cannot add points to stats ourselves?
