IGN has done a video interview with Paul Sams, Blizzard’s COO (mhey, thanks to for the link). I agree there’s hope that the Diablo franchise is not dead… yet!
Here’s a few bits and pieces from the interview which I found … revealing:
- Diablo movie - when talking about WoW, The Movie, Paul said “we would LOVE to bring certain of the other franchise to the big screen”. So if the WoW movie comes out strong and Legendary Pictures live up to the challenge, I think we can have a Diablo movie (in our life time yeah!)
- Diablo 3 - “It is definitely a very important franchise to us,” said Paul. The bad news - they are so focused on WoW, they are probably not “returning” to it soon.
So don’t get your hopes high for now. Or rather, get your hopes high but patience will still be key!

The last post gived me some hope about Diablo III …but now … i’m starting to think that Diablo is history !

in my opinion i think diablo 3 will rise but they are more focused on wow so they can get it finished and out of the way, so when they start making diblo 3 they dont have any interferance maybe that whats there doing, well that what i think anyways.
if u look at the website it shows that theres going to be a movie for warcraft, shows that they’re not concentrating on diablo

Well appearently according to diablo3.com legendary pictures had at one point in time Diablo under their works in progress, it was removed however.
For now I will forget my need for a diablo 3 or a diablo movie and hold a quiet reserve for what will someday be my new favorite game. In the mean time Im going to avoid WoW in silent protest (Ive played it enough now to not care) until the day blizzard can give me something else more worth my time. Between Diablo 2 and Sacred however I should be able to fill my need for what was to me, the golden age of online RPGs. Maybe some other video game company can come up with a similar style game for me until blizzard dusts off the Diablo franchise and brings it back to the forefront of massive multiplayer RPG glory. So for now I will wait for blizzard to pick up Diablo and NOT proclaim
“I have no use for this yet!”
i personally think d3 will end up, the same, or bigger than WOW. I also think the WOW movie will much end up like dooms’. LOL it suck for those of u who didn’t c it!

For anyone out there from blizzard thats listening… Diablo 3 would over power W.O.W simply because alot of kids play WoW and the Diablo fan base is mainly older now.. Meaning that we can afford to play it without mom and dad giving us alowance. So just do it already ….
