Blizzard’s President tops influentials list

Blizzard interview Mike MorhaimePC World has come out with a list of the TOP 50 Most Important People on the Web.

Now, I expected the Google guys to make it to the top. What I didn’t expect is that Mike Morhaime, Blizzard’s President, is right there at number 4!

Considering Steve Jobs is number 2 and Bram Cohen (BitTorrent) is number 3, this is a pretty amazing accomplishment.

Or is it? More than anything, it goes to show how the guys at PC World spend their time: browsing, ipod, torrents, World of Warcraft … and then everything else.

I don’t mind their bias at all. I’m just a bit concerned about all the praise going to WoW though (see below)…

In the world of online gaming, there is World of Warcraft and there is everything else. With 8 million players worldwide, Blizzard earns about $1.5 billion a year on WoW. And each player is breathlessly beholden to Mike Morhaime for the chance–if it ever comes–to obtain that Blade of Eternal Justice…

Blizzard used to be more than a single game company. Now, everyone equates it with WoW and each story focuses on becoming rich off a hit MMO.

It’s high time Blizzard do something about reviving their other franchises with sequels – namely Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2). Complacency is a grave digger in any fast-moving industry.

Diablo 3 is under development and everyone knows it will come out by 2008, but why make us wait?
For those of us that avoid online 3D type gaming we’re really looking forward to Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 (ghost was useless for any strategy fan)

Blizzard is only scaring away its precious customers to other gaming companies including EA Games, not to mention encouraging us to buy the Wii and use our pcs only for work.

How sad that their last playable offline strategy game is really really old (Diablo II LOD and Starcarft)

Mike deserves the honor anyway. Been having a lot of fun with d2 since about 8 years ago. Guess what, I still got it installed on my computer now…out of all the great games Blizzard ever made, diablo series are my favorite (don’t like Warcraft or WOW that much). Hope and I believe d3 won’t let me down…

I completely agree. It’s best for them AND us to be showing some future potential besides WoW REAL soon… Seems unlikely to me that the great Blizzard hasn’t thought of that themselves tho (maybe a whole new franchise, I mean they got some money to spend on it), so I’m not rly worried.
Btw dude, I visit this website to keep my hopes for DIII UP, not DOWN! ;)

On the Blade everyone is waiting for (g13V 3P1Xxx plxxx!one…. D’OH!), must say that I hope the Quests of Eternal Grinding (main reason to quit WoW) will NEVER be seen again, especially not in the game we’re all waiting for!

Have a look here and you’ll see that its doubtful if DIII will be playable offline, still: http://www.maxfreak.com/diablo3/archives/diablo-3-tradermark-activity/
If it were up to me: yes please (also online ofc)!

Hi, got a suggestion for Diablo III. If there is any ally, if possible make him able to wear all sort of items, such as weapons, helm, armor, rings, amulets, sash, inventory space, boots, or all the items that are used by the player.

And if possible, every upgrade, skills are given more than 1 attribute. As for normal games, it is too slow to have good spells.

    Thanks

what slayer was saying is true, if we have to get used to new hotkeys, the play will be annoying at first, and what bigthunder said… YOU CRAZY?!?!?!?!?!?!???? you know how hard it is to get ta lvl 99???itd take forever to get till over lvl200…
