Recently, I posted an IGN interview with Paul Sams, Blizzard’s COO.
Now comes another - Mike Morhaime, Blizzard’s President answers a few questions about upcoming games (and possibly Diablo 3).
Q: Do you have a war chest now that you can use to do other things?
A: We have a number of other projects in the works. We can’t talk about them yet. They haven’t been announced.Q: In the MMO space?
A: In general, broadly.
A few questions later, we get a console question.
Q: Starcraft Ghost?
A: Starcraft Ghost is on ice.
Q: Why?
A: It became pretty clear to us that we were late in the platform transition. We were on the wrong platform and were quickly running out of time to iterate and polish the game. We decided to pull the plug on working on old generation and we shifted all of our resources to working on next-generation platforms. There were a lot of things that we learned working on it. We’ll hopefully be able to leverage a lot of that with our next-generation games.Q: Do you have a chance to do something like Microsoft did with Kameo, which started on the GameCube and moved to the Xbox before it was published on the Xbox 360?
A: At this point, we’re evaluating all of our options.
I think the key phrase here is “we shifted all of our resources to working on next-generation platforms”. As with everything Blizzard, you’ll find little more than a few vague statements but it seems like two things stand out:
1) There’s still a pretty good chance for Diablo 3 to be a MMO
2) Games are still being developed for the new gen of consoles (like Xbox 360 and PS3).
I really hope they don’t go after cheap video game movies like Doom.

Yes blizz does release great games but do they ever release games on time?
Not in my memory! I do respect their take on things. It’s better to release when it’s ready.
omg, he clearly said d3 is mmo, fok u morhaine fok u blizz im switching to flagship studios
when is diablo 3 going to be released on computer
Dude, the Doom movie kicked ass. I do agree that id much rather have D3 as a game.
Kinda like Id’ve rather had FF7AC as a game…
The doom movie sucked arse. They didn\’t even link it to hell!!!
Are you kidding me with that crap!?!?!?! They threw in only one good thing, and that first-person scene was only about half as good as it should have been. No cyber-demon!?!?!? Not to mention a gay gene-enhancing people from the past…If yer good you turn super-good, and if yer bad, you turn super-bad… HUH!?!?! It sucked…If you were a fan of the real doom, you\’d see how diablo the movie shouldn\’t be that gay and how Hollywood COMPLETELY missed the point of the whole DOOM universe. NO HELL=CRAP MOVIE!!!!!
VIVA LA GOOD DIABLO MOVIE!!!!!!!
P.S.-Eat it!!!!!!
a lot of people will be disappointed if D3 turns out to be a mmo, simply because - as they showed with wow - blizzard won’t make free mmos anymore. there’s too much money to be had in the gaming business to not take advantage of the possible revenues that good mmos can produce. we’re talking billions here. blizzard aren’t to make D3 free just to please the fans because they know that there will still be a huge amount of gamers that are willing to pay to play. they might lose several thousand blizzard gamers from it, but i doubt they honestly care. in today’s day and age currency is the god. not virtue. there will, of course, be those who can easily afford paying to play who will be stoked - simply because well-made mmos are so fun, and we know blizzard can make a good mmo.
yo i’m AtmozE and diablos pretty fun but make a d3 already
Hay I’m curious as to the real story behind the termination of Bill Roper and the rest of the flagship crew.
I saw the DVD that came with my collectors edition of hellgate london and He seemed very professional but I could pickup on some hostile vibes there.
Was it a power play by Rick Seis to get closer to Mike Morhaime? Or was it a money motivated termination?
I Got to say that what ever happened… Letting Bill roper go was a damn fool mistake!
