Battle.net 2.0 features

Battle.net hasn’t been upgraded much since it first came out. Blizzard have promised a new and improved version of Battle.net (2.0) that will coincide with the introduction of Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3.

Below is the confirmed feature list (source: DIII):

* Excellent Ping
* Channels and Chat in-game
* Ladders and Rankings, secured against cheating.
* Extended stats, with possibility to see who D/C etc
* AMM-type Matchmaking
* Avatars, Images and Icons to represent yourself
* Diablo III Hardcore mode
* Friends/Ignore Lists with advanced management
* Clan Support
* Automated Tournaments

In addition, there’s plenty of rumors regarding an Achievements system, Accountability (to track cheaters and those who use hacks) and Voice Over IP in-game chat.

    I think the clan-function and tournaments would be a great assignment to the battle.net. And if they can promise to improve ping, so we can get less of the lag, I think there’ll be nothing to complain about ;)

    I think part of the success of Blizz titles like Starcraft, Diablo II and Warcraft III are credited to BattleNet. Making the users pay for the once-free service is a bad idea.

    this is so weak ive been playing b-net since d2 first was released… the only thing i will pay2play is an mmo not some match making system. Unless of course they make something similar to xbox live but for pc. This of course would have to mean something small like a $25 per year cost but would need some great features like a huge near WoW budget tech team and constant updates unlike old b-net and Diablo LoD, then and only then will i agree with the cost. Also i have a feeling that they will make me pay to get a similar class as the assassin in an expansion. This is pretty sad because it was my favorite /cry

    so they are for sure going to make us pay for battle.net??? that is bogus because we’ve had free battle.net the whole time for warcraft 3 and diablo 2 this whole time, and diablo 3 is not planning on being an internet only game. If they make us start paying they will lose more fans then they expect because i for sure wont pay to play online when you can just buy it and play for free without going online.

    I agree, paying for something that was previously free would annoy a helluva lot of players.
    I know i wouldn’t pay for it.
