Now, I admit the StarCraft 2 announcement was quite a blow to any hopes of seeing Diablo 3 any time soon.
Thinking about it more, however, the cold, hard facts remain the same.
Let me go through them for my (and your) well being:
1) Blizzard has been recruiting heavily lately: not only art directors but all kinds of artists. Judging by the StraCraft 2 trailer, their work at SC2 seems almost complete, so they are not hiring them for that.
2) Knaak commented about the Diablo storyline and basically confirmed Diablo’s world is not dead, it’s a world with dead.
3) Paul Sams interview where he says they have three product announcements. So far we’ve got a WoW expansion and StarCraft 2. I don’t know about you but I only count two so far…
4) Diablo 3 trademark and domain activity. Blizz have secured rights to all things Diablo 3 and since they aren’t making a movie, my guess is they plan a game.
5) Diablo 2 still has tens of THOUSANDS of active players. I bet more people play Diablo 2 than StarCraft (maybe not in Korea but worldwide).
Here’s another bet I’m willing to place right now: Most Diablo players are critical of WoW. I know I am. For example, I hate the fact I can’t access probably 50% of the end-game content.
Why? Because I don’t have the time to RAID. With Diablo, I can log in and solo Diablo or Baal whenever I feel like it. There’s no waiting for a healer or a tank. You go in, you kill. It’s that simple.

ur wrong… sams says blizz had A major announcment in 2007 and they were WORKING on at least 2 other unannounced projects, they never said they were to announce 3 projects in 2007.
You’re right Mhey but the point is still a valid one - they’re working on THREE projects.
Lets see ! Blizzard has three projects … one is a WoW expansion and the second is StarCraft 2 …
We may belive that the the last one is Diablo 3 , but ….. how long it will take

I hope so, been waiting long enough, wow takes too much effort and time and I was hooked on D2 first ne way.
I really hope all these rumors are true but, there is one thing i hope they make it how they made it before in third person view from the sky cause if they made it like Wow or other stuff like that i think it would just ruin it, and personally one of the reasons Wow doesnt grab me like diablo does is because, 1. The music is much better in my opinion in diablo, 2. The blood and gore graphics is ment to be a rated m game where wow is a T game.
I agree. Diablo 3 is currently in development, I’d be very much surprised if it turns out not to be.
Prolly has been in production for a long time, too. Remember those rumours on Blizz almost being ready for a release and then cancelleing it to perfect the game? To me, that sounds exactly like something Blizzard would do.
Unfortunately, I don’t think we’re gonna see any Diablo-related release or even announcement in 2007. Why would they? They released TBC, announced SC2; it would be overkill, undermining themselves. Altho ofc it MIGHT be they wanna please everyone at the same time… but tbh, if I were Blizz, I would try and satisfy fans with TBC and SC2 for now and come up with an early anouncement for Diablo 3 in 2008, at E3 or Blizzcon or whatever.
Does NOT mean ofc I won’t be jumping my head stuck into the ceiling of a Diablo announcement DOES present itself at Blizzcon!!
Let me just say this here. There Official Blizzcon Banner Have a image if the Lord. (No Big Deal, I mean that doesn’t mean much right? Correct)
People fail to realize, that it is an unseen, unused, new “Official” render of the Dark Lord. Meaning alot more than it would if they just had the classic Diablo Logo or an old image.
When was the last time any of you seen new Official Diablo related Renders?

idk but i hope they make it wow style except for one thing and thats theyre bad wc3 graphics i know some people like them but blizzard can do much better i would personally rather wait another year for d3 trying out other classes or trying to get trang-ouls on my necro to play an awesome game with good graphics rather than be stuck with pretty much a cartoon

Recently I was talking to a Blizzard represanitive via battlenet. He told me they where working on a patch for Diablo II. I hope he was talkign about them getting ready to re-set the ladder and not a major patch. Version 1.11 is ok but has a few problems with people getting dropped, (a bit off topic) but, I will be so pissed if DIII is an expansion or partial re-write! If DIII is pay2play, I wont be buying it PERIOD!
If its Going to be another pay to play game like WOW i think we’d be better off seeing it as a Addon for WOW with a amazon Class,
Fighter,Paladin,Rogue sourcerer all ready exist..
Reason why I say this is if you have been playing WOW for 2 years or more your no going to want to start over & no one is going to pay for 2 games a month at a time..
If it is free to play on Battlenet awsome.. But personally I would rather see Warcraft 4 But I imagine Diablo 3 is probably coming first.
I just hope they make loads of custom games for it beside just plain diablo, Like how they have DOTA,Footman frenzy and Tower Defence Games ETC for Warcraft..
Anyway if you Games are looking for a good RPG in the meantime they is a like diablo I would recommend Titan Quest its at least as good as DIablo 2 and much better then Dunguen Siege or Scared

Now I could be wrong but let us consider this on blizzard’s website. Attendees of blizzcon will recieve a beta key for an upcoming blizzard release. I could be wrong… but I personally feel that well… if it were starcraft 2 the cat is out the bag… we know it’s there… so why wouldn’t they say it? Blizzcon tickets are sold out… so noone would buy it just for the beta key if that’s what they were afraid of… so why not come out and say it’s sc2… my reasoning is that it isnt. That doesnt mean it’s diablo 3 because i think we would know about it already if they were near beta… however… it does mean (assuming i am correct) that something we dont know about is near beta. WoW exp? I dunno… can’t wait to find out.
I truely hope that D3 will be a pay2play game, the low monthly payment is worth a game which is updated and much more stabile than d2 and wc3…
it will most likely be an mmo game similar to wow but i hope for graphic which is more like vanguard, i doubt they will make it cartoonish since diablo is for a mature audience and not made for kids like WoW…
i agree that d3 can be a great succes running beside WoW since most of the ppls who will play diable hate WoW…
i cant see blizzard making diablo 3 if it aint pay2play, they know they can find way more profit in a mmorpg like WoW than a game like d2…
the difference from WoW, appart from the much better storyline, might be the solo part, i’m not sure that we will see diablo 3 with raiding

now we all want a diablo 3 and what i’ve been seeing might confirmed that as of now blizzard is hiring but who knows maybe it could be plain old warcraft blizzard has a way of dissapointing us
now lets say blizzard is making a new diablo with the sucess of wow those blizzard executives are proablly full of them self and unfourtanetly might make it like wow or they can do a spin off game
