Sorceress History
The Sorceress is the weakest fighter of the five Diablo 2 heroes but who says the power is in the muscles.

Ice Bolt

Effect: The ice bolt damages and slows your victim.

Comment: put only 1 point in this beginning spell - it's useless past lvl 6.

Frozen Armor

Effect: Gives a defense bonus and freezes any melee attacker that hits you.

Comment: only 1 point is sufficient - the freezing effect is important - not the Defense Rating Boost.

Frost Nova

Effect: Creates an expanding ring of ice and frost that damages and slows enemies.

Comment: 1 point should be sufficient - if you use it often find a staff that will boost it to slvl 4.

Ice Blast

Effect: Creates a bolt of ice that completely freezes a target.

Comment: Invest between 1-3 point till you get Glacial Spike. As with all freezing spells, opponents are blown to shard which makes it impossible for enemy spellcasters to resurrect their minions.

Shiver Armor

Effect: Defense bonus; any melee attacker that hits you will be slowed and will take damage.

Comment: Never worth more than 1 skill point so you can get Shiver Armor later on.

Glacial Spike

Effect: A shard of ice that inflicts massive cold damage and explodes to freeze all enemies in the spell range.

Comment: Great high-level spell delivering massive damage. Invest as much as you can (balance it with the other spells). Excellent for parties - freeze the enemies and leave the fighers (Barbarian, Amazon, Paladin) to finish them off.

Blizzard

Effect: An ice storm rains deadly ice shards onto your enemies.

Comment: The BEST high-level offensive spell killing Diablo in seconds. Invest as much as you can (balance it with the other spells). Not a good choice for parties - fighters (Barbarian, Amazon, Paladin) will not be able to see much and the lag may kill them.

Chilling Armor

Effect: Boosts defense rating and launches an ice bolt against all ranged attackers hitting you.

Comment: A must have for ACT III Jungles to cold those flayers. Moreover the ice bolts will show you the direction of the hits which is a lifesaver. Not more than 1 skill point, though.

Frozen Orb

Effect: A pulsating orb that shreds an area with ice bolts.

Comment: Most high-level players agree that this spell is of very limited use. Try it before you buy it - get a +3 staff and see if it fits you gaming style.

Cold Mastery

Passive Effect - Pierces the cold resistance of your enemies.

Comment: Cold Mastery is one of the reasons why Ice Sorceresses are so popular. Even monsters (or players) with Maxed resistance to Cold, will suffer massive damage when you invest 3-5 point in Cold Mastery.

Diablo II Heroes: Sorceress Analysis

In true AD&D terms, the Sorceress is a highly specialized offensive mage with access to three circles of magic: Cold, Lightning, and Fire

Stats Development

It is natural to pump up your Energy levels with each level. Each point in Energy translates to 2 points in Mana and Mana is your most important Stats. At level 30 you should expect to have an Energy level of 150+ (i.e. 23+ levels worth of character points). The other stats you might to pump up are Strength and Vitality.

A Strength of 41 is your target if you want to yield a light plate armor (base defense of 103). Vitality should take the rest of the points.

Dexterity should be overlooked since it contributes to Attack rating (which you don't need at all) and Defense rating which is better served by a good armor and the armor spells you have.

Skills Development

You should pick offensive spells in only one of the three areas otherwise you'll be spreading your skill points way too thin. There are a few skills that you absolutely MUST have regardless of your specialization:

~ Warmth - boosts mana regeneration (recommended level: 5+)
~ Shiver Armor - boosts Defense, freezes enemies
~ Teleport - escape quickly and move through obstacles
